Overview

This waste management site in Louth undertook a significant project to reduce electricity costs as part of a larger company initiative. Lovett Electrical led this third of four projects, focusing on integrating energy-efficient technologies to cut annual electricity expenses without disrupting site operations.

Initial Situation

The site initially suffered from high energy usage, especially during peak hours. Lovett Electrical identified opportunities for substantial savings through the installation of modern, efficient technologies.

Implementation Approach

The project required meticulous planning, involving multiple site visits and continuous communication with the site’s contracts manager through calls and emails. This ensured all modifications aligned perfectly with operational needs.

Challenges and Resolutions

The main challenge was upgrading the site's electrical system without halting daily operations. Lovett Electrical installed safety walkways and barriers, ensuring the project was completed safely and without disrupting the workflow.

Sustainable Technology Integration

Key technologies implemented included:

  • Solis 15 KW Inverter and Solis 10 KW Hybrid with 10.66 kWh Battery Storage: These were pivotal in balancing the site’s energy load and reducing dependence on the grid.
  • 80 x 425W JA Solar Panels: These panels maximised solar energy use, decreasing reliance on non-renewable energy sources and reducing the site’s carbon footprint.

Financial and Environmental Benefits

The new systems resulted in a 60% to 75% reduction in electricity costs annually, demonstrating a robust return on investment and significant environmental benefits due to reduced energy consumption.

Conclusion

This project exemplifies how targeted technological upgrades can yield significant economic and environmental rewards. This case study highlights the successful integration of sustainable practices in an industrial setting, showing that economic efficiency and environmental responsibility can indeed go hand in hand.
